Crawford Aquatic Park

Located at the southern end of Crawford Memorial Park’s 266 acres, the Crawford Memorial Park Aquatic Center serves an area with over 90% minority population and where more than 30% of the families live in poverty. It was developed through a series of community meeting to address the lack of a public water recreational facility nearby. The completed project is a bold and colorful landmark that serves as a strong symbol of the community, distinguished by the steel pavilion that outlines the park’s entry and its carefully detailed brickwork. The profile of the building is defined by a series of canopies that cantilever from the structure; gesturing towards the pool and providing shade from the southern sun.
